Pregnancy Testing

All of our First Care Pregnancy Centers offer free, lab-quality, urine-based pregnancy tests. You are welcome to walk-in to any of our five locations and request a pregnancy test without an appointment. Our pregnancy tests may be accurate as early as 7-10 days after conception. A social worker or trained staff person will assist with the pregnancy test and will provide information and referrals as necessary.

Ultrasounds

First Care provides free, early ultrasounds for clients who are between 6 and 14 weeks gestation. Our ultrasound service allows you to visualize early gestation enabling you to connect with the life inside and visualize the heartbeat. You may receive information on fetal development from our medical staff and volunteers. If you desire, you may also receive ultrasound pictures of your baby.

Parenting Support

If you are planning to parent your child, our licensed Pregnancy Support Social Workers can assist you in developing a plan to get you started in the journey of parenting. This may include assistance applying for health insurance, understanding available community resources, budgeting, and information about parenting techniques and child development.

Our Parenting Plus Program, available in three of our offices, combines parenting education with material assistance such as new and used maternity clothing, baby clothing, diapers, and brand new equipment items such as car seats and strollers. Unlike some of our other services where walk-ins are welcome, appointments are necessary in order to participate in our Parenting Plus Program. At your appointment you will select a parenting-related educational activity to complete. Sample topics include decision-making, prenatal care, labor and delivery, adoption information, discipline, potty training and sibling rivalry. During your activity, you will complete a worksheet that corresponds to the activity you have chosen. After completing the activity and reviewing the worksheet with a staff person, you will then receive "Closet Dollars" which you may use to purchase items in our clothing closet. Participation in this program is great way to obtain clothing and baby items while also gaining valuable tools to assist you in your important role of parenting.

Adoption Services

If you are a birth parent considering making an adoption plan, our licensed Pregnancy Support Social Workers are available to assist you in this process. Adoption plans may be made at any point during your pregnancy or even after your baby is born. Our Pregnancy Support Social Workers are also available to provide support to families of birth parents who are in the decision-making process.
